Broome Basketball Association rain final berths locked up

The Broome Recreation and Aquatic Center basketball court was filled with excitement on Nov. 15 as teams vied for a spot in the upcoming Broome Basketball Association Rainy Season Finals.


Boys Class A: Gansome Pointers Defeat Raiders


In an exciting Boys' Class A showdown, the Gansome Pointers showed what they are made of by defeating the Raiders by a whopping 63-37 score. Taj Pirrottina was the leading scorer for the Pointers with 23 points while Pascal Barnes scored 12 points. With the win, the Pointers advance to the first round of the finals, where they will face the Kings, while the Raiders are eliminated from the tournament.


Bad Boys Narrowly Defeat Ondash


In another evenly matched game, the Bad Boys narrowly defeated Team Odash 31-29. Chris Hunter scored 11 points for the Bad Boys and Jakheen Coaby scored 10 points for Odash. The two teams will meet again next week in the first round of the finals.


Kings beat Tigers


The Kings established their dominance over the Tigers with an 80-41 win against the Tigers. The Kings' Jarman Cox was the scoring leader with 26 points while the Tigers' Decovan Lane had 14 points.


Sharks, Nova win in girls' competition


In the women's competition, the Sharks showed what they are made of with a convincing 36-10 win over the Shipping team.Shannen King scored 14 points for the Sharks while Tehana Connelly scored four points to lead the Shipping team. The Sharks now prepare to face the Dunkers in the first round of the finals, while the Shipping team prepares to face the Raiders.


In the other girls' matchup, Nova beat the Tigers 36-30. Kelli Small scored 17 points to lead Nova, while Latoyah Lawford scored seven points to lead the Tigers. Nova continues to hold on to the top spot with the Tigers following in second.


BOYS SOCIAL DIVISION: Yellowjackets and Pipe Band win


The Yellowjackets earned a hard-fought 52-48 win over the Gators in the Boys Social Division. For the Gators, Kyle D'Antoine scored 27 points to lead the Hornets and Latrell Sibosado scored 17 points to lead the Hornets.

The Pipers defeated the Hippies 40-39 in an evenly matched game. Troy Douglass scored a team-high 12 points and Clinton Manado had nine. The two teams will meet again in the first round of the finals while the Hornets prepare to take on the Gators.

With the preliminaries in the books, the Broome Basketball Association Rainy Season Finals are about to kick off, bringing together the strongest teams from each division to compete for the coveted title.
